Our October "Tails from the Rail" Edition took place on Saturday, October 9th, 2004.
You guys are all awesome in my book. I guess we may have become spoiled in the last nearly year and a half. Metallica returned and reformed, energized with the addition of Rob Trujillo, new record, world tour, movie etc. It was the perfect window of opportunity to start a local chapter of the Metallica Club in Chicagoland. Interest in Metallica was high, so joining and attending chapter functions was and is important to us all.
Quality and not quantity is what we who attended Saturday, October 9th experienced. Nine people during the course of the evening shared their “Tales From the Rail” and enjoyed Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, Rock in Rio Lisboa 2004, The Metallica appearance on the Jane Pauley show, and a continually growing Metallica/AIC slideshow while enjoying never-ending pizza, Jagermeister, and beer. Most of all we enjoyed seeing each other, most for the first time since the August shows at Allstate Arena. A few of us have also attended various shows, including Detroit, Moline, Peoria, and Milwaukee, amongst others, and those shows were discussed as well. We traded a guitar pick or two, and showed off our various collections.
I hope that you all got exactly what you wanted out of Saturday night whether you got hear early, left early or stayed late after the host crashed. I really appreciate what every one of you brings to the meetings by just attending. You all add joy to my life and envigorate the society that is AIC. I invite you to share your thoughts about the October Edition with me. We are planning on getting together next time on Saturday, November 13th.

And a personal note from your friendly Webmaster. As most of you know, I have accepted a job offer in the greater Detroit area, and will be moving out of Chicago in early November. As such, my attendance at future AIC events will certainly be a bit limited, but I do certainly plan to stay very much involved in this club and in this chapter. Much like Jeff said, I have appreciated meeting and getting to know each of you, and will miss our monthly parties when I am unable to attend. But you haven’t seen the last of me, I promise!
And a final note… Please remember to get out and vote next Tuesday, November 2nd. I’m not here to tell you who to vote for, but please, whatever you do, don’t vote for Bush. Thank you.
