Our October Chapter meeting took place on Saturday, September 20th.
This is exactly what I envisioned. A local chapter of the Metallica Club in the city of
Chicago that is active. A local chapter that is more than just online for a concert. A
local chapter that carries on with regularly scheduled meetings. Meeting is such a bland
word to use for what we do when we get together though. It is starting to genuinely feel
like frequent family reunions. We get together for well planned parties where there are
members that we may have not seen in a while and new members that are joining the family
and guests of members. We aren’t seeing any turnover in members, only additions. When we
started this in the spring of 2003 there were the founding five members that had a plan to
stay together and grow this chapter as something to be reckoned with. Well I reckon that
by the October Edition we will have more than doubled our membership to eleven local
chapter members. We also will have created a history of five consecutive monthly Anger In
Chicago Editions plus a special pre-show party for Hawthorne Summer Sanitarium 2003. Now
when me meet there is hardly any silence, not any uncomfortable moments and there isn’t any
shortage of anything to talk about. People are buzzing in conversations with one another
and then listening attentively as someone relates a story from a trip to Europe this summer
to see Metallica. I am pleased to say that we have become a very cool network of Metallica
fans. Not a thing happens that someone doesn’t catch and then tells everyone else. Let’s
see, we have representation from the North and South sides of Chicago, downstate Illinois,
Indiana , North and Western ‘burbs and now we are connected with a person that has a
cross-country address that spends half his time on the West Coast and the other half here
in Chicago. Anger In Chicago has become a real outpost or network hub for Metallica fans
here in the Midwest.
The September Edition was well attended, with as many as a dozen people making their way
to HQ during the evening. A few Metallica collectibles were given away to lucky drawing
winners. The,"Match the first name to the last name of Metallica band members past and
present" game was a big hit. We watched some rarely seen concert footage from Rock AM
Ring in Germany this past spring. Over and over again. It never got old. Everyone
enjoyed the ‘Tallica talk, and food and beverages, which were plentiful as usual. There
was a special midnight run to the grocery store after which we got to taste a “Flaming
Dr. Pepper” for the first time thanks to our guest bartender Joe, who knew the recipe.
Andy, how good were those concoctions? I don’t think the Scary Guy showed up until Sunday
morning around 7:30 a.m.

Guests were invited for the first time ever. We intend to make that a regular occurrence at every monthly edition. Not an Anger In Chicago member, not a MetClub member at all, not even a big Metallica fan yet? Stop on by and experience Metallica and their family of fans at Anger In Chicago HQ and I bet you will be well on your way to becoming a fan, a member of the Official Metallica Fan Club, and then knocking on Anger In Chicago’s doors to become a local chapter member.

Can’t wait to see everyone again for the October Edition, and maybe a few new faces too. The Scary Guy should be on time for sure in October.

Your Chapter Head, Jeffrey Swiderski
With apologies from your humble webmaster and founding member for missing his first
meeting. God (and Deloitte) willing, I'll make up for it next time... or the time after
that!!!
Our third full chapter meeting took place on Saturday, Aug 16th.
We welcomed another new member, told a few stories, enjoyed a few drinks and some pizza,
and kicked back and watched some Metallica videos. Good times!

We had our second chapter meeting on Sunday, July 13th. Read on to find out more...
Meeting number two is in the can! Like the first meeting there was a great balance of business and fun. We continue to be an active local chapter of the Metallica Club. There have probably been a few hundred email exchanges between our five founding members, and many more with prospective members. We sincerely could have tripled our size since the beginning of Anger In Chicago. What we have accomplished instead was bring five serious Metallica fans closer together for the common goal of having a thriving ‘Tallica community. We are all starting to know each other very well. It is for certain about more than just the Club now. It has become about each other. It has become about knowing other people that have a common love for Metallica. Members are doing individual projects for the chapter to become better for everyone, while making sure to keep everyone in the know what we are trying to achieve. That includes T-Shirt design, logo design, production of recruiting materials, and more. This chapter is coming together. By taking this seriously and having planned to get together for the second time at our own HQ, our chapter has gained another serious and active member to our little family. Gabriella, or #6 as we like to call her, introduced herself at Anger In Chicago # 2 on Sunday, July 13th.

Our chapter is had it's first meeting on Saturday, June 21, at HQ-Chicago.
