Our Spring Edition took place on Saturday, May 1st, 2004.

May Edition

An over the top success. The first weekend in May, Anger In Chicago held it's Spring Edition at HQ in Chicago as well as went to the first regional stop of the "Madly in Anger With the World" Tour in Madison, WI. Those of you that were fortunate enough to have attended the Spring Party/Meeting/Get-Together know just how cool it was. For those of you that did not here is what you missed. We watched the ROCK AM Ring MTV Europe concert from June of 2003 for about the ninth time; Anthrax's Live Destruction in Chicago recorded at Metro in December of 2003, and socialized Metallica-Style.

Welcome back to Metallica Drive

There is so much to the socializing part. We feared right up to the usual 6:00 PM start time that there wasn't anybody who would show up. We couldn't have been more wrong. I counted as many as 20 people at the party’s height. But, if every single member would have came to the party that would amount to only 14? Some of our members could not make it but we made up for it with 7 newbies checking out AIC for the very first time. OK, 20 real Metallica fans in one place. Some do not know each other. No fear, Metallica fans don't ever run out of things to talk about with other Metallica fans. It didn't matter that some of us had never met one another. I don't think anyone was ever silent for too long. We were like people that knew each other for years by the end of the evening. A bunch of chatterboxes at times who could care less about what was on the TV. They would rather keep the conversations going with one another.

May Edition

Success. That's for sure. When we started this local chapter approaching one year ago we wanted to provide a sanctuary where a community of Metallica friends could build a community and grow a culture. The evidence of that having happened is every time night Anger In Chicago gets together. So many people both new and old told us how comfortable that they felt about the evening and they appreciated being able to get together in this manner. We hope to see many of the newbies return in June to become members of AIC.

How YOU doin?

Officially, the most important business at hand was coordinating about 10 of us getting up to Madison the next day. We also discussed new memberships and a new project of designing and producing our own AIC business cards. A new part of our party was having the AIC month of May birthday cake. If you have a June birthday please let us know about it.

Big Bottle

The next day we all met up in Madison and endured about three hours in line to get front row on the rail positions for the show. That was reward number 1: great “seats” to watch Kirk perform the newly added "Dirty Window" guitar solo a few feet in front of us, among so many other great moments. The rewards continued with some of us getting guitar picks and Chris snagging a drum stick. A few of on us on the rail were photographed by Niclas Swanlund of the MetClub. We hoped that there was a chance we would end up on the site. Sure enough there we are on the MetOnTour page for the May 2nd Madison show. Two days later, there we are again, but this time on the LiveMetallica page for the Madison show.

Bigger Bottle. But sorry Brad, that one's
not real!

We want to congratulate Christina Tate for getting to do what only few of us have been able to do yet. Christina was able to do a "Meet and Greet" in Madison. Check out here story and pictures of that memorable event at http://lyricsandthings.tripod.com/lyrics_and_things/id11.html.

Rock!

Hope to see everyone soon for the 1 Year Anniversary of AIC in June. Stay Tuned.
